Questions for reflection on Gluttony:
  1. It has been said that if you cannot conquer a desire having to do with the body, it is unlikely you will be able to conquer a  harmful spiritual desire. Reflect on your desires. Is this true?
  2. Why do you think people paid more attention to fast days in the past? We have an amazing amount and variety of food, but we tend not to take fasting seriously.
  3. Gluttony has been described as a hunger that is fed in the wrong way. What are your hungers?

Sow a thought, reap an act.
Sow an act, reap a habit.
Sow a habit, reap a character.
Sow a character, reap a destiny.

  2. Greed is the excess love of material things and the power and position that often comes with them. When was the last time you felt this?
  3. How many masters do you have? See Matthew 6:24; 1 Timothy 6:6-10.
  4. Consider ways you might reduce your desires, increase your charity, and celebrate blessings another person receives.

Questions for reflection on the Transfiguration (Luke 9):
    1. Why would the transfiguration be surrounded by statements about Jesus’ death (16:21-25; 17:9,22-23)?
    2. Did something happen to Jesus? Or was something revealed about Jesus?
    3. Peter seems to want to prolong this moment? Do you remember a time that you wanted to prolong? Why experience this and then have to move on from it?
    4. If you heard God say to listen to someone, what kind of thing would you expect them to say?
