Questions for reflection on John 3:14-21
- Read Numbers 21:4-9. Why do you think Jesus used this story?
- Can you relate to the grumbling Hebrews (Exodus 16, Exodus 17, Numbers 11)? In what ways do you grumble?
- Turning away from God in numbers results in snake bites in Numbers 21. Have you ever felt a “snake bite” as a consequence of turning away from God? Have you ever become “sick through [your] sinful ways” (Psalm 107:17)?
- What does it mean to have trust in God the way the Hebrews trusted the bronze serpent?
