Questions for reflection on Luke 1:26:
- The words of the Magnificat were banned in countries across the globe from the time of Caesar to the 1980s uprising in Guatemala. Why would governments be concerned with it?
- The magnificat suggests that God takes sides. Whose side?
- What is the significance that these words come from the lips of a poor woman? How would they sound coming from the lips of the high priest of the temple, or Caesar?
Rev. Chris Roth posts the text of the sermons on his blog.
